Job Details
The purpose of the Metallurgist role is to be responsible for developing procedures to maintain or improve plant operations and gold recoveries, optimizing usage of consumables through research and development, as well as reconciling gold and for all aspects of metallurgical accounting at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation.
- Local Roster: 5 days on/ 2 days off/ 4 days on / 3 days off

About the role
The Metallurgist role offers an exceptional opportunity to research & develop improvements of the processing operation/gold recoveries.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Troubleshoot production and process problems while making recommendations for improvements.
- Improve procedures for processing bullion and maintain concentrate inventory in and outside the mill
- Maintain inventory of mill consumables (e.g. reagents, liquid oxygen, grinding media) and optimize the use of consumables
- Complete assigned project work for potential plant efficiencies or expansion including Nuclear Density Gauge program by maintaining site compliance with CNSC
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
About our Operation
Our Red Lake Operation is located in an area where you will experience the best in Northern lifestyle, in the heart of a lake-studded, boreal forest region in Sunset Country. Red Lake is known for its natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and incredible Canadian fishing in the many freshwater lakes in the area. The Red Lake district is located 180 kilometers north of Dryden about 100 kilometers from the Manitoba border in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It spans 42,000 hectares and has produced over 29 million ounces of gold since 1949. Our Red Lake Operation includes the Red Lake and Campbell underground mining and processing complexes, and Cochenour, a potential new source of ore. As Evolution’s newest asset and our first in North America, we are excited by the opportunities here.

About you
As a Metallurgist, you will have Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering or similar discipline. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Remains focused during challenging situations and functions well under pressure
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
- Works productively alone or in a team environment
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Extensive background in data analysis with superior numeric and analytical ability
- Solid comprehension and interpretation of technical language, data and reports
- Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality

Company
The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.
Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.
Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
