Reporting to theManager,Water Modelling– Water Quality Management, theSeniorWater Quality EngineerorScientist isresponsible forleading a team inthe applicationof the Regional Water Quality Modeland water quality data analysis to support mine planning, permitting,and water quality management decisions at our Coal operations.

Responsibilities :

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Leadand reviewwork managed by our teamofwater quality scientists,engineers, and consultants
• Collaboratewith project managers and environmental teamsin the development and optimization of groundwater, surface water, and climate monitoring programsaimed at reducing uncertainty in the water quality models
• Provide seniorreview ofmodellingdocumentation for environmental assessment applications and regulatory submissions, as well as in-house modelling
• Collaboration with mine and water management planners to inform the best decisions for sustainable mining
• Coordinate consultants to complete water quality modelling work to support mine plan evaluations, regulatory applications, or support the planning, design, and operation of water quality mitigations
• Support development and maintenance of site-specific planning tools associated with water quality predictions and water balances
• Support improvement and updating of water modelling tools
• Develop and support the use of processes to standardize routine modelling tasks

Qualifications :

• Engineering or Science degree in an environmental science related field, such as Hydrology, Geochemistry, or Geoscience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Professional designation in a relevant field, or eligible to register
• Minimumeightyears of relevant professional experience with a focus on water qualityassessment that include water qualitymodelling
• In depth technical knowledge of the development andapplication ofwater quality models, specifically usingGoldSim
• Mining experience in mine planning, water management, or environment is an asset
