Responsibilities:

  • Implementation, operation, monitoring, and control of the current ventilation system for the Leeville Underground mine to satisfy ventilation standards within Barrick, the State of Nevada, and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Evaluation and proposal of ventilation systems for mine expansions, and opportunities for system improvements.
  • Provide technical and leadership mentoring to junior ventilation staff.
  • Ensure plans, budgets and schedules are sufficiently developed; management systems and processes are adequately applied; and personal attention is appropriately directed to ensure that important deadlines are met, and budget constraints are adhered to
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required, with advanced education in Mine Ventilation preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience practicing mine ventilation,
  • Knowledge of rotating or turbomachinery such as axial flow and centrifugal fans, thermodynamics, heat transfer, refrigeration, air conditioning, required
  • Knowledge of modern computer tools for modeling and design of large ventilation networks, computer fluid dynamics modeling, and computer aided design required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Demonstrated capacity to execute and hold self, as well as others, accountable for results required
  • Broad and comprehensive practical experience in an underground mining environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required

About Nevada Gold Mines

Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.

The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018.
