AIM OF JOB
Manage and guide the sourcing and procurement of specified equipment and commodities together with Supply Chain Partner Companies in accordance with set standards and procedures to ensure that expenditure on procurement is optimized throughout the supply value chain.

Manage and guide the sourcing and procurement of specified equipment and commodities together with Supply Chain Partner Companies in accordance with set standards and procedures to ensure that expenditure on procurement is optimized throughout the supply value chain.
ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree (MBA would be preferable)
- At least 10 years' experience in procurement, ideally in the mining field
- Demonstrated commodity sourcing and management experience
- Good knowledge of the supply base globally to the mining sector
- Proven negotiation and facilitation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of quality systems and processes
- Experience in ERP systems, SAP experience would be advantageous
- Project Management and team leadership skills
- Bias for action, with strong execution ability
- Decisive - making practical and effective decisions
- Takes initiative from start to finish
- Persuasive- able to influence, gaining the respect and confidence of stakeholders
- Build constructive and effective relationships
- Strong understanding of contractual process
- Strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret data and make clear value enhancing propositions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyse consolidated spend across multiple business units and determine strategy to enhance category/ commodity procurement
- Analyse industry trends across key commodities and proactively identify supply options that will ensure best value, minimize risk and protect continuity of supply to business units, considering the global footprint with specific focus on East and West Africa
- Analyse commodity price trends and identify procurement savings opportunities
- Analyse procurement information and work with Supply Partners to ensure opportunities exist and are actioned
- For strategic commodities, evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning secure the right supply source in conjunction with Supply Partners
- Identify and co-ordinate internal resources to assist with supplier evaluations of a highly technical nature
- Ensure that identified supply contracts are implemented by the respective Supply Partners by working with cross functional stakeholders to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions
- Provides inputs for mine budgets regarding consumables and other items annually
- Directs/recommends appropriate sources and timing of procurement in line with business unit demand plans
- Provides procurement expertise and support to Supply Partners
- Monitor the supply vendor base in conjunction with Supply Partners to ensure Group Vendor SOP's are met
- Ensure proliferation of suppliers is managed effectively, in order that the source of supply is not at risk, and there is sufficient volume consolidation with suppliers to enable competitive terms
