Summary

The person in this position will work on a variety of geotechnical engineering consulting projects, with emphasis on work related to dams, flood control projects, and hydraulic structures. In addition to providing technical expertise and engineering oversight of geotechnical investigations, numerical modeling, analysis, and design, this person will also be involved in preparing plans and specifications for construction, writing reports, and cost estimating. Administrative responsibilities such as project management, mentoring and coaching, and developing and maintaining client relationships are also expected to be part of this role. Minneapolis, Denver, and Salt Lake City are the preferred office locations, but the position is open to other locations in the U.S. The position will require travel for project assignments or business development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a geotechnical emphasis
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in analysis, design, and construction of dams, flood risk reduction infrastructure, and hydraulic structures
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Strong technical skills in a wide range of civil engineering disciplines such as structural and water resources
  • Willingness to travel to support project needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Experience working in consulting engineering
  • Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (MSc, PhD) in geotechnical engineering
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in analysis, design, and construction of dams, flood risk reduction infrastructure, and hydraulic structures
  • Experience in projects for, or that have required approvals from, federal agencies such as USBR, USACE, FERC, and NRCS
  • Previous work experience as the engineer of record for geotechnical aspects of flood control/levee projects, dam design, and foundations.
  • Strong relationships with clients and the ability to foster ongoing relationships and maintain a high level of client service
  • Desire to become involved in the greater geotechnical community by performing research, giving presentations, and preparing publications


NOTE: Some work locations will feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
