Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Mine Mobile Equipment Trainer.

Rotation schedule will be two weeks onsite with twoweeks offsite.

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Training & Development

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Develop, prepare and update training materials to ensure that trainee’s receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety and competency for assigned tasks
  • Responsible for scheduling and managing all classroom and in the field training using the developed training modules, while creating learning situations where trainees can demonstrate competency in advancing their knowledge and skills in areas such as pit equipment, light vehicle training, surface crew and training related to the Port Operation
  • Measure and evaluate trainee performance by assigning projects to trainees, conducting practice sessions and obtaining feedback from supervision as to trainee’s performance after the training session
  • Provide follow-up on all training facets by issuing evaluations, maintaining frequent contact with supervision who conduct on-the-job training and keeping current records of mine department personnel training status
  • Maintains all training records (paper and computer based) and issues monthly departmental training status reports
  • Maintain a high degree of oral communicative skills to encourage the active participation of trainees
  • Ensure Red Dog Mine Site employees are provided with the necessary safety equipment to safely complete their jobs and that all employees are familiar with the operations’ safety and operating procedures
  • Ensure all MSHA standards and documents required are completed with copies in the employee’s files and participate in the presentation of Mine Operations part of the Red Dog MSHA program and is responsible for the site orientation of all new mine employees
  • Fill-in as a Mine Shift Supervisor, when necessary
  • Performother related duties as requested or required

Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma (or equivalency).
  • A valid Alaska Driver’s License is required
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of heavy equipment operating experience in open pit mining or related construction field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated operator training experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work well with others and have a professional demeanor
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of all the major and auxiliary types of equipment used in an open pit load/ haul /dump operation
  • Create or modify training programs and standard operating procedures to reflect any modifications or changes to equipment
  • Able to correctly evaluate trainee performance to ensure trainee is capable of operating safely
