Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base that was acquired by Kinross in January 2016. The mine is located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Senior Reliability Engineer, supervises a team of maintenance planners to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values. It is important that the incumbent foster team spirit among team members, motivating them to meet production goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees all long and short range work planning
  • Ensures all parts, materials and required resources are ordered and secured in a timely manner
  • Supervises employees within Kinross/KG Bald Mountain policies and procedures
  • Plays an active role in developing standard jobs for all preventive and predictive maintenance tasks
  • Works with Maintenance Personnel to ensure that all parts, special tools, and equipment necessary to complete a planned task are available and accounted for before the job commences
  • Oversees all scheduling of work orders and necessary repairs
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of work performed. Keeping daily schedules of both reactive and proactive work performed
  • Continually evaluate the scheduled life of components and equipment to ensure accurate timing and replacement as the mining operation evolves
  • Assist in prioritizing all work that requires scheduling by process criticality and required by date
  • Ensure optimum use of facilities and equipment
  • Keeps in active communication with the Maintenance General Foreman and Operations groups and provides periodic updates on the status of work being planned
  • Be a liaison with operations to plan, monitor, and execute maintenance, capital, and construction projects
  • Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above
  • Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance

  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years equipment experience in a mining or construction environment with a combination of field and office work required
  • Meet Kinross Way maintenance goals
  • Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must show strong emphasis on Planned/Scheduled work practices
  • Must be able to adapt to constant changes in our work environment
  • General understanding of mining operations
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, dispatch, word, outlook, explorer, and JD Edwards
  • Must have strong training, verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
  • The ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, management, vendors and/or contractors
  • Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team
  • Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets
  • Requires valid driver's license
