Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

Ensure accurate and complete accumulation and compilation of financial data for financial reports. Supervise the accounting group. Responsible for preparing and applying overall Kinross guidelines to forward-looking information processes, including review of mine site strategic business plans (SBP), budgets and forecasts, analysis to support the validity of the budgeted/forecasted results, analysis of actual results against budget and other ad hoc analysis. Work closely with the site Controller as well as reporting and operational groups to ensure the timely and accurate flow of information from the sites to region; assist in supporting the finance departments as it relates actuals, budgeting and forecasting, monthly and quarterly reporting. Application of corporate policies and other finance related issues, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage the scheduling, compiling and timely distribution of internal financial statements and other related management reports in compliance with established corporate reporting schedules
• Direct and review all activities of the accounting group to include but not limited to: Managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end, reconciliations, journal entries, etc...
• Provide for the retention of financial and production records in compliance with all applicable federal state, local and corporate requirements. Monitor controls and procedures of operating and financial systems to ensure integrity and accuracy of data for internal and external audit reviews
• Oversee and assist in the preparation of mine site budgets, forecasts and SBPs by working with the financial analysis accountant to ensure submissions are timely and accurate
• Foster a working relationship with corporate resources
• Provide analysis of budgets, forecasts and SBP results to the mine site senior management in order to facilitate review and for inclusion in documents (slides, write-ups, spreadsheets)
• Perform ongoing analysis to support business decisions, including authorization for expenditures and business development
• Work with mine site leadership on projects to continuously improve processes in areas of responsibility, including working with the site teams to automate reporting from information systems, identifying and acting on gaps in current processes and controls, and working with internal stakeholders
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
• Comply with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct

• Possess a valid driver's license

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Budgeting and forecasting experience is preferred.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Must have strong technical skills and be able to perform complex and non-routine, advanced technical assignments.
• Must use judgment for problem resolution to adapt and apply procedures that address and resolve unusual problem situations.
• Must ensure quality standards are upheld in their field of specialization.
• General understanding of mining operations.
• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team.
• Demonstrate strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
