About the role:

Downer Power and Gas is a leading provider of end to end services, providing design, construction & maintenance solutions for Power & Gas distribution network owners. Experiencing business success with strong project pipelines, we have a need for a number of great people to join our team. Committed to meeting the highest regulatory standards we are aligned with some of NZ's largest networks, covering up to 30,000kms.

We are looking for a proactive and forward thinking individual to join our Power & Gas Team. Reporting to the Head of Finance - Power & Gas, the Management Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day finance and administrative functions for the Western Region.

You'll be generating reports to support key operational managers, provide analysis and detailed business plans to support growth and ongoing investment. You'll also contribute to developing new applications, recommending business structure, writing test scripts for new functions and preparing monthly management and financial reports for the wider Power & Gas Senior Management team and Downer NZ.

About you:

Ideally a qualified Charter Accountant (CA); or with demonstrable practical accounting knowledge, you will ideally have experience in a contracting environment and understand the unique challenges associated with this industry. You will be knowledgeable in the tendering and pricing process and be confident communicating to customers, managers and operational staff alike.

Your resume will demonstrate your ability to optimise processes and your commitment to continuous business improvement as well as your natural leadership to engage your team and stakeholders on this journey. In addition, you will offer:

• JDE (or other ERP) experience
• Intermediate/Expert user in Microsoft Office suite
• Familiarity with Scorecard and Dashboard style reporting
• Organized and systematic approach to working environment
• A positive/proactive work ethic with a focus on delivering outcomes
• Able to travel when required
