We currently have an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to expand on their mining industry knowledge and experience and take the next steps in their career in our Technology department. WesTrac is a global leader in the deployment of autonomous mining fleet technologies with more than 300 autonomous haulage trucks operating in Western Australia, representing more than 85% of the world’s autonomous haul truck population. In addition, we are deploying autonomous dozing, drilling and underground solutions, with further options being developed.

As a Machine Control & Guidance (MCG) Senior Technician you will be heavily involved in the installation, commissioning and ongoing support of the Caterpillar MineStar® Technology range that we install on mining and construction equipment. Some of these products include fully autonomous and remote-control Mining equipment in unmanned environments and high precision GPS systems that track material and vehicles across mine sites. Major accountabilities would include Safety compliance, installation of technology systems, ongoing technology systems support, and continuous improvement, as well as leadership duties of more junior Service Technicians.

To be successful the following is required:
  • Proven track record of success in a similar technology-related role within the mining industry.
  • Expert level knowledge of the MineStar® technology product.
  • Expert level fault finding and problem-solving competencies.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles.
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies and understand computer systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Previous leadership experience, able to provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical specifications to a high standard.
  • Strong focus on safety in everything that you do.
  • Passion for continuous improvement.
  • C-Class Driver’s License.
