Summary:
Reporting to the Land & Environment Manager, the Environmental Compliance & Permitting Lead is responsible for assisting with the environmental compliance and performance requirements at all assigned facilities in Washington and Oregon State. This role will support the business with environmental permitting, due diligence assessments, reporting and all required compliance activities.

Responsibilities:
Complete site inspections and audits providing recommendations and ensuring follow-up on corrective actions.
Provide guidance and training to all levels of the organization to ensure all employees act in an environmentally responsible manner and carry out their activities in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and legislation.
Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring compliance.
Work closely with Environmental Coordinator to support data gathering and field monitoring activities at operations.
Prepare and coordinate all environmental operating permits, reports and related requirements for facilities.
Support environmental impact assessments, stakeholder and Public open houses, and Tribal consultation required to develop new aggregate reserves and to establish facilities for the material businesses.
Collect applicable data and prepare required reports. Track and report all corporate-required metrics.
Support the due diligence and environmental assessments for land acquisitions and divestments.
Interpret impacts to business lines from current and emerging environmental regulatory requirements at all levels including Federal, State, County, City, etc.
Ensure continuous improvement of environmental systems, programs, and strategies and promote environmental best practices at all facilities.
In collaboration with Corporate and Operational management, ensure standards, programs, and initiatives are implemented, integrated and effective.
Identify environmental issues that require capital expenditure, assist in the preparation of funding requests, and lead the implementation of the chosen solution.
 
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or combination of training and experience in environmental monitoring and compliance.
Field experience in industrial settings is an asset.
Experience with management of stormwater permits and air permits is required. Experience with mining permits is an asset.
Ability to work in a team setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.
Effective problem solving and written/oral communication skills.
Capable of using and implementing online management and reporting systems.

Work Environment:

Role operates in an office and a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
