Our Red Chris mine is located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan, in Northern British Columbia and we encourage qualified applicants from the local communities to apply. We offer several designated marshalling points within Canada including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers and Calgary.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a Superintendent - Health and Safety, to provide safe, efficient, and cost-effective operational control to Red Chris JV's Safety departmental operation. In accordance with legal requirements and company objectives, you will provide leadership and operational direction to the work teams, ensuring resources, capacity and capability are aligned to the work plans.

In this role you will also:
  • Support Newcrest Safety transformation and Safety System, ensuring a safety-first work culture
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard work procedures and safe systems of work
  • Conduct Visible Felt Leadership interactions, System Verifications and Field Critical Control Checks to target throughout the financial year
  • Develop and implement both safety system level and hazard level standards, procedures, and supporting materials
  • Facilitate team-based risk assessments providing technical oversight
  • Conduct periodic analysis of incident data identifying trends and develop targeted interventions

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have previous mine site experience and a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or similar. As an experienced leader with the ability to influence large teams, you will have a proven track record of promoting and sustaining a successful safety culture through visible safety leadership.

Further to this you will also have:
  • CRSP (highly regarded)
  • An understanding of safety issues and the risks of mining operations
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies and practices related to occupational health, safety and hygiene
  • The ability to manage delivery of a Health and Safety Program
