About the role

We are looking for an Energy Process Engineer to support the Steam Plant / Cogeneration department in day-to-day operations process support and Continuous Improvement Project implementation for Water Systems, Boiler Steam and Condensate Systems and Power generation systems.

This role is a great opportunity for a self-motivated Engineer to see immediate results in plant efficiency, output and quality improvements as well as project implementation improvements. Reporting to the Plant Support Sr. Engineer, you will be:
  • Monitoring working practices and plant conditions to ensure adherence to all Statutory Safety Requirements and policies to ensure the safety of employees.
  • Utilize technical expertise to provide day-to-day support of gas fired Boilers, Cogeneration Plant and Water systems to solve operating deficiencies, find and implement improvement and reliability opportunities.
  • Support capital improvement project scoping, planning and implementation to meet the needs of the department's capital improvement plan.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership during all phases of annual Cogen and Boiler maintenance outages.
  • Provide input to maintenance scheduling, preventative and predictive maintenance optimization, material selection and specification.
  • Assist with finance and regulatory compliance data gathering and reporting.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance requirements such as FERC, CAISO, EIA and CEC.
  • Providing leadership in team building, planning, and establishing clear measures that keep everyone focused on safety, results, and the customer.
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement while soliciting input from team members.
  • This role also consists of vacation relief of plant supervisors requiring leadership of plant steam operators, maintainers and electricians.

About you

To succeed in this highly visible leadership role you will need:
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • A focus on leading every task with the safest work procedures and consider employee safety the highest priority of the role.
  • 5+ years of Engineering experience in a Refinery, Manufacturing, Processing facility.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of steam generating boilers, Cogeneration facilities and associated systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills in both leadership and technical details.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management and implementation.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and high voltage.
  • Experience in safe equipment operational troubleshooting of a process.
  • Computer skills, proficiency with MS Office products and communication tools
  • Driver's license
  • Knowledge of MSHA regulations
