Purpose

The Senior Financial Analyst is a member of the Porcupine Gold Mines Finance team. Reporting directly to the Site Business Manager, you will play a key role within the business planning process as well as periodic financial forecasts. In addition to supporting investment decisions with analysis and financial modeling, you will participate in the production, validation and analysis of financial results for the operation, specifically with a focus on internal cost management and analysis. You will be responsible for the financial compliance role which requires supporting operational managers to ensure compliance and improvement of internal controls. You will promote Newmont values and ensure compliance and enforcement of its rules and business principles.

Essential Duties

  • Support the Site Business Manager with the preparation and delivery of the annual business plan as well as the periodic financial forecasts, in collaboration with the mine site departments and the Regional business planning team
  • Develop and maintain costs analysis reports and generate pertinent financial analysis of the data; support ad hoc financial analysis to support Site/Region/Corporate leadership
  • Support the direction and decisions made regarding investments with various analysis tools such as the financial modeling tool
  • Provide financial support to the annual Scenario Planning deliverables
  • Work closely with other Senior Analyst and Financial Analyst to help build a strong cross functional finance team
  • Respect, know and promote company regulations and policies, particularly regarding health and safety

Training & Experience

  • University degree in Accounting or Business administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
  • Professional Accountant Designation
  • Strong Microsoft Excel/Word/Powerpoint skills, and experience with Integrated software system (SAP is an asset)
  • Effective multitasker, ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Teamwork in a collaborative environment
  • Adaptability


Working Conditions

  • This position is located at the Newmont South Porcupine Office, near Timmins, ON.
  • In this role, you will work 5 days and have 2 days off. As such, if you do not live near the site, we will require relocation.
