About this role

What will you be responsible for?
  • This position will facilitate executive decision making to improve value and minimize risk across Newmont's portfolio of operations and projects.
  • Deliver economic evaluation governance and provide standard methods and tools for use by all projects in Newmont's Investment System.
  • Provide financial modeling support and training to functions across Newmont.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standard methodologies with respect to economic evaluation techniques and processes.
  • Maintaining and improving Newmont's portfolio tools for strategic planning.
  • Support Newmont's climate change and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support delivery of Newmont's budget and forecast processes through high quality analysis and reporting to enable executive decision making.
  • Engage and collaborate with the global planning team, regional leadership and other executives to deliver Planning's business priorities.


Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:
  • We demonstrate and instill an overriding dedication to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • We facilitate executive decision making to provide budget guidance to regions for cost control, investment priorities and major project timing.
  • We support delivery of the Scenario Planning process by assisting site and project teams in developing and evaluating a range of production plan options to proactively manage Newmont's portfolio plan.
  • We facilitate modeling of portfolio plan scenarios which can achieve corporate operating and financial targets ranging from near-term cost, production and cash flow metrics to long-term exploration and business sustainability goals.
  • We identify value accretive opportunities via ad-hoc analysis and demonstrating your influencing capabilities, and effectively communicate your recommendations to senior leaders.
  • We efficiently analyze, summarize and communicate scenario results to enable executive decision making.
  • We maintain project economic evaluation standards and provide standard tools to all major projects in order to ensure consistent and rigorous investment evaluation.
  • We adapt economic evaluation standards and tools to maintain alignment with the changing economic and business environment.
  • We provide quality control reviews of investment evaluation models to maintain alignment with Newmont standards.
  • We provide financial modeling support and training to functions across Newmont.
  • We manage annual budget compilation and analysis of exploration, advanced projects and capital spending; provide summary insights for executive leadership.
  • We support economic modeling related to Beyond the Mine sustainability reporting.
  • We manage financial and carbon emissions modeling related to TCFD climate change reporting and analysis, plus provide financial modeling and budgeting support for Energy and Decarbonization initiatives.
  • We provide operations and projects perspective to quarterly forecast and annual budget analysis to ensure plan quality and to identify cost management opportunities.
  • We provide modeling support to Projects, SRD, VA and regional teams as the need arises.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

Knowledge:
•Undergraduate degree required (preferably Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field).
•Acumen in financial modeling, accounting, business and planning concepts and methodologies.
•Preferred knowledge of mining operations and/or projects.

Experience:
•7-9 years of business experience in the mining industry preferred.
•Experience in project evaluation and financial modeling required.
•Preferred experience with mining operations and/or projects.
•Must have strong analytical abilities and be able to interpret strategic and technical points of view, in order to identify key variables and alternatives that impact the investment decisions.
•Systems experience (preferably BPC or other multifaceted systems).
•Experience required in working with global teams and interacting management.
•Ability to influence and motivate change at multiple levels across the organization.
•Strong analytic and synthesis skills; strong understanding of financial data and solid application of accounting principles.
•Strong MS Excel skills, including sophisticated financial modeling and other tools' development.
•Requires strong acumen in accounting, business and planning concepts and methodologies.
•Ability to communicate and present information required - translate, consolidate and summarize financial and data driven information into presentations.
•Experience with operational improvement, process driven technology improvements.

•Consistent track record to work collaboratively with multiple partners to delivery positive outcomes.
•Strong analytical capabilities with an understanding of investment evaluation, financial modeling, key value drivers, capital allocation and business planning processes.
•Strong attention to detail, with the ability to problem solve on complex issues, and work in a integrated team environment.
•Ability to effectively communicate and present financial information- translate financial and data driven information into management presentations.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and work effectively within a multi-national/ multi-cultural environment.
•Ability to make decisions, take initiative, identify issues, generate solutions and commit to actions.


Working conditions and location

Where you will be located!
  • The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
  • Position may be required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
  • Ability to accommodate meeting times outside typical business hours to provide global support and attend global calls.


The salary range offered for this role is $ 98,400 to 129,150 . The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
