We offer several designated marshalling points within Canada including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers and Calgary.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a Health and Hygiene Advisor to provide ongoing occupational health and hygiene expertise to support and ensure the provision of a safe and healthy working environment. You will be tasked with minimising the risk of injury to employees and damage to equipment.

In this role you will also:
  • Build and maintain working relationships with external networks, clients, regulatory bodies, technical experts and equipment providers
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard work procedures and safe systems of work
  • Conduct periodic analysis of incident data identifying trends and develop targeted interventions
  • Plan and assist with occupational monitoring in accordance with the site's Occupational Health and

Hygiene Management Plan
  • Monitor compliance to the Occupational Safety and Health plans and procedural requirements
  • Use direct reading instruments, sampling techniques and other methods to measure levels of chemical, physical and biological agents such as respirable silica, light, heat, noise and radiation
  • Interpret the results of exposure evaluations and determine risk to human health based on scientific research, and recommend and assist in the implementation of control methods for these workplace hazards through the hierarchy of controls

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have previous mine site experience and a Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or similar. With considerable experience conducting workplace health and hygiene inspections, audits and investigations, you will also have experience conducting functional workplace inspections using ergonomics knowledge and techniques.

Further to this you will also have:
  • CIH or ROH (or eligibility) considered an asset
  • An understanding of safety issues and the risks of mining operations
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies and practices related to occupational health, safety and hygiene
  • Certification(s) in quantitative fit testing for tight-fitting respiratory protective devices and maintenance and calibration of audiometric testing and pulmonary function testing equipment
  • The ability to manage delivery of a Health and Safety Program
