Mining Superintendent – Operational Excellence

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over one million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.2 million ounces of gold doré. In 2020, Sepon produced over 39,730 tonnes of copper and 64,809 ounces of gold doré. Sepon is projected to produce over 250,000 ounces of gold doré in 2021.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Mining Superintendent – Operational Excellence to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

This role is responsible for the management of Sepon Mine Operations Centre (MOC) and its Mining Operational Technologies (MOT) as well as for the Continuous Improvement of the Mining Department. The key focus area is to drive continuous improvement across the Department and manage the ongoing development and implementation of the MOC and MOT

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage all MOC and MOT resources
• Manage all MOT vendor service agreements and ensure all services are being met
• Support development and implementation of best practices for mine management systems to improve site productivity and reduce site costs while also facilitating global reporting
• Develop KPIs for MOT Engineers or system users Integrating other site systems thru the MOC platform to help centralize processes and applications
• Develop AFEs for the department capital expenditures and manage MOC & MOT hardware and software
• Continuous Improvement champion for the Mining department
• Identify opportunities for improvement projects and develop effective project scopes.
• Facilitate Continuous Improvement workshops that contribute to a step change in performance
• Set up a Business Improvement framework, with training and engagement to deliver on key activities
• Train and coach the MOT and CI teams to perform their tasks in efficient ways.
• Provide technical support to project stakeholders.
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
• Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work to correct them.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
• Minimum 10 years in mining industry (Mining) and minimum 5 years’ experience with Fleet Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
• Knowledge on MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), MS Power BI or similar, Minitab, Cost controlling, SQL Server Database applications and Fleet Management Systems
• High level of self-motivation and passion for Technology
• Be capable of working without direct supervision and proactive and self-starter
• Having take-charge attitude and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to effectively prioritise tasks, communicate with teams, and provide positive and constructive feedback based on performance
