NEWest Alliance is a multidisciplinary collaboration between CPB Contractors and Downer, working with the Public Transport Authority to deliver two projects (Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link) as part of METRONET.

As a Environmental Advisor, you will be assigned a number of key responsibilities to manage within our company which will have a direct impact on our business. There are 2 roles available, both being full time permanent roles.

The YRE Environmental Advisor will be located in NEWest Alliance's Butler office and will work on the Yanchep Rail Extension Project.

The TCL Environmental Advisor will be located in NEWest Alliance's Bibra Lake office and at site compounds as required, and will work on the Thornlie Cockburn Link Project.

Some of your key responsibilities will include
  • Provide sound and timely environmental technical advice, training and assistance to the Project;
  • Perform and supervise tasks in accordance with environmental protocols, and identify, assess and manage environmental hazards associated with project activities
  • Obtain environmental approvals, permits, licences and consents required by the Project;
  • Amend, implement and audit the Construction Environmental Management Plan, and review Contractor Environmental Management Plans to ensure conformance to requirements;
  • Develop, implement and deliver Project environmental inductions, toolboxes, training and awareness;
  • Establish and maintain Project environmental registers, including permitting and approvals, risk, obligations, ground disturbance, soil tracking, waste management and tracking, native fauna interaction, water management, trench inspections, and inspections, audits and montioring;
  • Develop, implement and report on project environmental monitoring programs;
  • Maintain a positive and outcome driven relationship with key Project team members, client environmental representatives and project management and supervision teams
  • Participate in planning and construction meetings
  • Undertake field inspections and audits on environmental performance criteria, compliance and defects and respond to incidents
  • Regular liaison with site personnel particularly working closely with Area Managers, Senior Project Engineers and Project Engineers

ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management or a related field
  • At least 5 years' experience in civil construction environmental management, with site-based experience and experience in implementing environmental management systems
  • Sound understanding of Western Australia Environmental Legislation with proven ability to review and interpret relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice and contractual requirements to comply with environmental industry requirements
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and interpreting project related documents and preparing reports and monitoring compliance documentation
  • Effective time and people management skills including planning and sequencing of work, and personal time management
  • Demonstrated effective on-ground problem solving techniques and skills especially as it relates to delivery of environmental outcomes
