Summary

As a communications specialist with Barr, you will develop persuasive proposals and presentations in collaboration with engineers, scientists, and other communications specialists. You will advance strategies for proposals and opportunity pursuits, as well as write, edit, and design proposals and presentations.

In addition, you’ll create high-impact content to increase Barr’s visibility and engagement with clients and other key audiences. You’ll develop project examples, blog posts, social media updates, news stories, feature articles, and thought-leadership content. You’ll also partner with project teams to plan and deliver webinars, videos, conference presentations, and marketing materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in a communications position, where work included communicating technical or complex information to a non-technical audience
  • Experience writing proposals and other forms of persuasive communications
  • Superb written communication, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Attentiveness to details and deadlines
  • Strong project-management and organizational skills
  • Advanced ability to serve as a strategic communications advisor and lead through influence
  • Working knowledge of graphic-design and document-design principles
  • Experience or ability to develop content in multiple formats such as video, social media, web content, or infographics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of related experience
  • Experience working in content management systems
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Prezi, Illustrator, Acrobat, and/or MS Project software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 platforms, including SharePoint Online and MS Teams
  • Advanced document-design and graphic-design skills
  • Technical editing experience
  • Photography experience


Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000/year. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus. Our compensation comes in more ways than traditional base salary, and we believe that when all those elements are combined, our compensation is a competitive part of the total value proposition of working at Barr.
