The Environmental Officer is accountable for providing environmental support to the Maules Creek Coal Mine in line with the company's environmental management plans and regulatory requirements.
The Role: Environmental Advisor - Group HSE (Gunnedah, NSW)
An outstanding opportunity has become available for an Environmental Advisor to join the team Group HSE team in Gunnedah.

To be successful in the role you will:
  • Assist in the development of environmental approvals including liaising with consultants and contractors, technical review and supporting approval pathways for sites.
  • Support the investigation and implementation of sustainability Projects, Programs and Initiatives.
  • Provide technical review of environmental assessments.
  • Assist in the strategic management of regulatory requirements through ongoing review and communication within the business.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and motivated team, with the opportunity to gain experience in approvals and project management.

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix structure
  • Knowledge of regulatory processes and legislation in the mining sector essential
  • 3-5 years in a similar position
  • High level oral and written communication skills, particularly in delivering information and liaising with stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within required deadlines
  • Ability to liaise effectively with external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional planning, organising and coordination skills
  • Previous experience engaging and directing consultants and contractors in the delivery of environmental outcomes would be considered favourable.
