Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for Process Engineering Manager for our Mining & Minerals office in Bryanston.

Main Purpose of the Role:
  • The Process Engineering Manager is accountable to ensure that company has the appropriate process resources to profitably achieve and maintain its objective of becoming the premier mineral resource engineering company internationally.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Accountable to develop, maintain and improve the Process Group.
  • Ensures that the appropriate people are recruited, retained and developed within the Process Group and optimally utilised to achieve best practices.
  • Accountable to provide the frame and context for the Process Group and to give feedback and recognition for direct reports.
  • Accountable to develop and retain the relevant competencies within the Process Group to secure and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Manages the Process Group to ensure that a good quality product is delivered on time and in accordance with budget parameters.
  • To ensure that the organisation's strategic objectives are communicated and translated.
  • To develop and implement systems which coordinate people and resources to carry out chosen practices.
  • Ensures that quality Process Engineering service is delivered to Studies and Projects.
  • Assists in securing future projects.
  • Manages the Process Group to ensure that all process practices and systems are reviewed and continuously improved and optimised in order to continuously deliver a high quality product at optimal cost.
  • Appoint the appropriate calibre of people to meet the needs of internal clients.
  • Contribute to enhancement of value adding outputs and positive teamwork at the management level.
  • Engage and implement plans derived from the strategic plans. Champion the Process Group.
  • Ensure requisite competencies are present and maintained.
  • Strive for personal reimbursability of greater than 50%.
  • Development of process plants that operate efficiently and in accordance with client requirements


Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience on process projects in a management role.

Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Ability to engage in systems design and implementation.
  • Management leadership ability.
  • Ability to establish and improve relevant work practices.
  • An understanding of strategic and change management and an ability to translate this understanding into appropriate action.
  • Capacity to scope improvements in practices and design and implement systems within a 1 to 2-year time frame.
  • Good technical knowledge of processing.
  • A good knowledge of the core business.
  • A good understanding of the commercial thrust of the business.
  • Capacity to improve and refine practices and systems within the Process division to meet organisation objectives.
