ABOUT OUR OPERATION:

Agnico Eagle is always looking for new talented team members to join our Nunavut mining operations. We have been operating at Meadowbank, our first Low Arctic mine, near Baker Lake for over nine years. The mine produced its three millionth ounce of gold in 2018. 2019 marked the last year of production at the Meadowbank mine, and has since transitioned to process ore from the Amaruq satellite deposit. With the official opening of the Amaruq Whale Tail Project in August 2019, the project is now referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Coordinator, the Water and Tailings Engineer is part of the Environment Department and collaborates with other departments of the mine. He/she will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Plan tailings deposition activity;
  • Analyze the conformity of the tailings deposition to the deposition plan;
  • Conceive water management system for surface and underground dewatering;
  • Prepare engineering document (specifications, design report, drawings) for water management systems;
  • Inspect the site water and tailings management infrastructure;
  • Plan water management activity (dewatering plan, freshet management, site-wide water balance);
  • Analyze the performance of the water management infrastructure and water treatment plant;
  • Provide technical expertise and implement engineering solution to ensure the performance of the water & tailings management infrastructure;
  • Modelise the water quality on site and in the receiving environment;
  • Management of water & tailings mandates with consultants;
  • Prepare environmental conformity report on the management of water and tailings;
  • Promote a safe work environment by using the work card and participating in Health & Safety meetings;
  • Completion of various projects assigned by the Water Management & Geotechnical Engineering Coordinator.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

What You Need To Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or related field;
  • 2- 5 years of experience in water or tailings management applied to the mining industry;
  • Knowledge of Muck 3D, Deswick, AutoCad, GoldSim and pumping design software (such as EPANET) is considered an asset ;
  • Member of a Canadian Engineering society and eligible to NAPEG membership;
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint);
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment .

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d'Or, Quebec.
