A multinational operator of bulk materials, power and building materials has engaged CSG to help source a residential Chief Mining Operation Officer (Senior GM / COO-Level) to manage the operations, large team and contractors as they go through the final stage of the commissioning cycle. 

 

In brief the company would be looking for: 

  • Effectively the Chief Operating Officer for the Mining Division reporting to Chief Executive Officer;
  • Ideally, a degree in mining related engineering and registered as a Professional/Mining Engineer;
  • 20 years of working experience
  • Proven track record at management & operational level,
  • Shown a level of maturity for managing large teams of international workers
  • Be able to take a hands-on approach to leadership
  • Able to manage across different cultures with good communication skills;
  • Proven relevant international experiences 
  • Proficiency in spoken & written English; knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage but it is not a pre-requisite 
  • Has dealt with contractors previously 
  • Continuous improvement experience 
  • The Chief Mining Operation Officer will oversee people management and contractor management. This will take about 55% of this role with operations / technical prowess being 45%
  • Experience in coal, overburdens and open cut will be highly regarded and will be preferred 

 

This multibillion dollar asset will be a role that requires relocation to the Middle East for the successful Chief Mining Operation Officer incumbent with free housing, vehicle (with driver) and a discretionary bonus on top of a lucrative USD salary.
