Description

Provide professional, knowledgeable and timely service to assist worldwide business units in resolving water supply and water rights issues. Procure/oversee consultants, manage hydrogeologic projects and data collection and management systems, apply hydrogeologic principals, perform hydrogeologic analyses and provide technical support to the Land and Water Department.
  • Conducts groundwater and surface water related investigations at sites. Conducts pertinent hydrogeologic assessments. Research, compile, and interpret hydrogeologic data.
  • Apply knowledge of hydrology, hydrogeology, and water rights administration to water supply problems at operations. Assist in conducting water supply risk assessments and water audits of operations.
  • Facilitates data collection, management, integration, analysis, output and presentation with the use, development and management of ArcGIS database and visualization systems.
  • Collaborates with Land and Water staff, and other business units, at Freeport-McMoRan sites in assessing hydrogeological problems and resolving them.
  • Provides assistance and coordination with engineering, production, and exploration staff at the operations to determine how hydrogeological problems can best be resolved. Supports the design, procurement, and construction of infrastructure designed to resolve hydrogeologic and water supply problems.
  • Leverages existing and future site hydrogeologic data collection efforts, supporting and enhancing operations and decision making across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as requested.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Water Resources or related scientific discipline and five (5) years experience in Hydrogeology or related scientific field
  • Professional experience in:
    • Well siting and design, including interpretation and analysis of regional hydrogeologic data, drillers' logs and borehole and regional geophysical data
    • Aquifer test design, data collection and analysis
    • Water management instrumentation installation, data capture, and analysis
    • Quantitative methods, including:
    • 2-dimensional analytic groundwater model construction, simulation and review using commercially available software
    • 3-dimensional numerical groundwater model construction, calibration, simulation and review
  • Communicates results in English in a professional, concise, manner to management in both written and verbal form


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Water Resources or related scientific discipline
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish
  • Training in database management, ArcGIS, and visualization software, such as Power BI
  • Ability and willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestic and/or international
