Job Description:

Summary

The person in this position will work on projects involving structural inspection-related technical field assignments. This may include general condition assessments and detailed structural inspections, structural design and analysis, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, and construction inspection and observation. The work will involve out-of-town assignments, generally lasting less than a week.

Field duties may include:
  • Preparing areas for inspection and setting up and tearing down inspection-related tools and equipment
  • Conducting visual and physical examination of steel and concrete structures
  • Using nondestructive testing techniques and equipment to locate and define deficiencies
  • Preparing field sketches, locating deficiencies, and assisting with repair detail drawings, where required


Office duties may include:
  • Compiling field data, sketches, and repairs into a formal report
  • Preparing AutoCAD drawings suitable for documenting findings, identifying areas in need of repair, and conducting rehabilitation efforts
  • Performing calculations necessary for determining the condition of existing structures
  • Completing designs necessary for repair of existing structures


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in engineering or survey-related degree (civil/structural emphasis)
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in an environment that expects self-initiative
  • Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing about 30 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and structural engineering analysis software such as RISA, STAAD Pro, or MathCAD
  • Familiarity with work in an industrial environment and basic knowledge of various industrial disciplines and industrial construction


NOTE: The work will be primarily related to wind generation power facilities. The work may involve short-term, out-of-town assignments. Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities or working on tall structures or with industrial equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on such sites. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
