We are looking for an Underground Asset Management Specialist to work closely with the Operational Readiness Team and the Underground Mining Team. The is a great opportunity to work with a diverse team on a new world class project.

The Project

The Jadar project is planned to be a greenfield Underground mine and processing plant located approximately 20km south-east of Loznica, Serbia. The Jadar Project business strategy is to develop a world class, Tier 1 asset producing battery grade lithium carbonate, boric acid and sodium sulfate with synergies to the broader Rio Tinto Business enabling a green future and creating value for both Rio Tinto and Serbia.

Reporting to the Asset Management Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing maintenance expertise to support the development of the underground asset management strategy including maintenance tactics, standard work procedures, master data documentation etc.
  • Ensure the UG mining fleet and material handling systems meet the Rio Tinto and Serbian/EU standards and policies
  • Support the implementation of a battery electric fleet of underground mobile equipment
  • Support the use of technology in the mine to drive efficiencies and safety.
  • Support the implementation of the Asset Health, Condition Monitoring and Reliability Engineering programs
  • Working closely with a range of key stakeholders including the Project team, Specialist engineering contractors and mine designers from all over the world.
  • Manage OEM's/vendors/suppliers to ensure the right level of service and support is provided including warranty
  • Understand TCO "Total Cost of Ownership" to support capital expenditure and ongoing opex costs for the life of the equipment.
  • Support the identification of critical spares, vendor held stock, con stock and first fills
  • Participate in RAMBO reviews (Reliability, Accessibility, Maintainability, Buildability & Operability) during the design phases.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • ~10 years experience in Underground mining with a mechanical or engineering background.
  • Experience and success procuring and maintaining underground mobile equipment fleets.
  • Know and understand industry best practice for maintenance tactics and supporting systems
  • Strong understanding of underground mining equipment functionality and operation
  • A passion for technology and the use of data to support maintenance decisions.
  • A working knowledge of SAP and the work management processes.
  • Strong safety values
  • Proven ability to coordinate, plan, schedule and track activities in a highly complex and dynamic project environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders including both internal and external audiences.
  • Effective writing and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate plans and objectives
