Role Details

Gold Fields - Granny Smith is currently seeking an Advisor: Underground Safety and Training to join their Mining Department.

Reporting to the Coordinator: Safety and Training, you will be responsible for the provision of the Mining Department Safety management systems and training functions.

This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off, 4 days on 3 days off rotating roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
  • Promote and maintain a high level of compliance to health, safety, and environmental policies and programs
  • Facilitate and participate in incident investigations, analyse findings and make recommendations as required
  • Facilitate and participate in hazard identification, risk assessment, and critical risk management processes
  • Review and develop site-specific Management plans, Procedures, and standards.
  • Provide input to the Department Learning Management System (LMS) and accurately maintain training records
  • Ensure Training Needs Analysis is current for all Mining functions and roles
  • Assist with the implementation of a National Competency-based training and assessment program for operational personnel, including the provision for regular re-assessment and evaluation
  • Ensure area-specific induction training material is up to date and delivered to required personnel and visitors
  • Conduct audits and inspections within Mining ensuring compliance with Site and Department standards
  • Liaise and work with other stakeholders such as OHS, other site departments, business partners, and Gold Field's corporate


Key factors to your success include;
  • Minimum of Certificate IV in OHS
  • Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training is essential
  • Experience with ICAM's and Risk Assessment facilitating and report writing
  • Proven experience in developing site-specific Management Plans and procedures
  • Experience in Safety & Training management programs such as InControl, Intuition, and LMS
  • Experience in an underground mining environment & mining equipment
  • Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office applications and document construction & review processes
  • Keen interest in improving Safety and training systems and processes.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, holding yourself to a high standard with regards to data management
