About the Role

We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join the Rio Tinto Borates & Lithium team. This role provides supply chain services that deliver value to the Rio Tinto Group through the strategic sourcing and buying of goods and services for all operations and businesses.

Playing an essential role supporting the business unit you will:

• Procurement project lead for all support groups
• Creation and maintenance of stakeholder approved Category Strategy for relevant categories
• Ensure qualification of suppliers and compliance with Rio Tinto Procurement Policy
• Preparation and management of Request for Information, Request for Quotation, and Request for Proposal documents
• Preparation of comparative analysis and sourcing recommendations resulting from proposals received.
• Lead business critical negotiations and effectively secure outcomes that align to strategic procurement priorities and provide leadership skills to support teams to develop negotiation skills.
• Draft and execute required contracts and master service agreements
• Generate creative supply chain solutions that balance people, goals, methods, policies and procedures that integrate with requirements.
• Generate new ideas to improve procurement outcomes and guide others in resolving complex issues based on existing solutions and procedures.
• Health and safety consciousness, adhere to a strict code of ethical conduct, empower employees to work independently and make decisions

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• A Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred
• Previous procurement and project management experience
• Experience with SAP Materials Management
• Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
• Valid state driver's license
• Ability to travel to port facility in Wilmington, CA on occasion
