Reporting to the Manager, Aquatic Sciences, Environment, the Project Coordinator, Environment (known at Teck as the Coordinator, Environment) is responsible for supporting environmental compliance for water monitoring projects, regional monitoring programs and operations. The key focus area for this role is to support water compliance with Teck’s authorizations.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills who can work independently with little supervision; someone with excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities who can multi-task competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role's focus is supporting multiple environmental projects, therefore excellent project management skills are vital.

Responsibilities :
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Understand applicable commitments, permits, and associated requirements that inform management decisions and actions
  • Manage the function of the Environmental Monitoring Committee (EMC) by overseeing the external facilitation team
  • Provide budget tracking and management support for the Environment and Social Responsibility water team
  • Coordinate and track review requests for the Environment and Social Responsibility water team
  • Manage internal and external SharePoint sites for the water monitoring team
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, Indigenous groups, and other local communities of interest to support understanding of Teck’s activities
  • Support the fulfillment of contractor manager responsibilities for regional projects and programs


Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related environmental field such as Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Forestry, or Agriculture, or a Diploma in Environmental Technology with relevant work experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the field of environmental compliance or monitoring
  • Proficient in environmental data management, analysis, and reporting, including Environmental Management Systems
  • Technical knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental and legislation, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Proven project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical support for multiple environmental projects
