Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Schedule: 5/2 and 4/3 – 9.5 hour days

Position Reports To: Chief Mine Engineer

Position Overview

The main duties of the successful incumbent will be to develop and design the long and medium-term mine and dump plans and plan the mining schedule; to handle complex technical assignments; to analyze current engineering processes, systems and procedures, report shortcomings and suggest improvements to optimize the mine. This role reports directly into the Chief Mine Engineer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and documenting processes for the planning functions.
  • Evaluate, design and implement procedures related to mine planning.
  • Evaluate costs, engineering and mine planning data.
  • Provide technical direction for the mine related to operations strategy and implementation.
  • Review operational plans and design changes.
  • Ensure the Mining Operations team is adhering to mine waste stockpile schedules and designs.
  • Review mining operation performance against plans and budget.
  • Prepare monthly cost and performance reports and presentations to support planning results.
  • Validation and data management of the fleet management system along with overall quality assurance.
  • Generation of reports to assess operational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support where required.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering studies
  • Mentor and coach Engineers in Training and Junior Engineers.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mining engineering and immediate eligibility for membership with the PEO.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in a Mining and mine planning environment
  • Must have at least 10 years open pit experience.
  • Significant experience in long, medium and short range open pit mine planning, design, scheduling, production, and project management.
  • MineSight software skill is regarded as an essential asset.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to think strategically
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team and leadership skills
  • Strong leadership ability is essential
