Data Engineer - Remote, Canada

SRK Consulting is an independent, international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the international mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Data Engineer.

Description of Responsibilities:

We are seeking a data engineer with a geoscientific background for our Data Services team. This position is work-from-home based in Canada and can accommodate any time zone. Only those legally permitted to work in Canada need apply. SRK will assist with provision of work-from-home facilities but the availability of high-speed Internet service (>100 Mb/s) is a requirement.

The SRK Data Services team is a data engineering group tasked with automating the acquisition, processing, preservation, and heuristic analysis of geoscientific data. Your general responsibilities will be automation of the data lifecycle as applied to mining-related geoscience. Our work encompasses data automation applied to all aspects of SRK's consulting activities ranging from early exploration through mining project development (including resource and engineering studies) to operational support.

Data engineering is evolving rapidly and the scope of our team's involvement in SRK's business is expanding quickly. More important than your current experience or education is your desire to expand your skills and knowledge. In the SRK Data Services team there will never be a time when you can rely wholly on what you already know, and you will always need to be advancing your understanding of new technologies and sciences. Essential Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, GIS, Analytics, or Business Administration
• Advanced proficiency with any of the following: Python, R, DAX, M, Hive, Scala, Spark, or T-SQL
• Familiarity and/or certification with AWS or Azure (preferred)
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to generate, implement, and complete projects
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Additional Beneficial Experience:

• Familiarity with any of the Earth Sciences (Geology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, Hydrology, etc.)
• Familiarity with environmental or mine data management solutions (acQuire, EQuIS, Fusion, Centric, DataShed, Loadsensing, Seequent Central, BeadedStream, Aquarius, etc.)
• Familiarity with Industrial IoT solutions and infrastructure
