Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Engineer, the roll of the QA/QC Coordinator will be the lead, supervising the QA/QC group to ensure the correct application of the Project Quality Plan for Contractor site activities, the coordination of the quality control program activities and the implementation of the Quality Control Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessing the technical expertise of personnel required in the various areas of the work to ensure quality inspections and reporting is completed
- Monitor construction activities and ensure testing and required observations are completed as scheduled
- Educating employees on the company quality program to ensure participation in the Quality Procedure Plan is understood by all personnel and followed
- Liaise with Project Management to communicate project conformances/non-conformances identified through quality metrics.
- Collaborate with Department Management on non-conformances and strategies for improvement, and corrective action
- Identify potential quality incidents before they arise
- Assist in tracking non-conformance trends, and disseminate information to the Departments, the Quality Management Team, as well as the other Project Quality Coordinators
- Ensure QA information and records are filed and managed through a continual documentation check throughout the life of the project with status updates at recommended intervals for submission to Project Management and the client
- Maintaining a high level of understanding of company standards and guidelines
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5+) years in a Quality role, preferably in the mining related industry
- Quality control and inspection experience with respect to construction in an underground environment is preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to lead the project QA using own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong relationships and handle sensitive and critical situations and issues
- Effective problem solver and possession of good analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project)
Health and Safety:
- Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and procedures
- Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. PPE,
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and have the knowledge to use an MSDS sheet effectively.
