Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base that was acquired by Kinross in January 2016. The mine is located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. The Bald Mountain Vantage Complex Project has commenced production, and the first gold bar was poured in June 2019.

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the incumbent will follow the Kinross Way for Maintenance to increase overall efficiencies of the maintenance departments and site equipment. He/she also will recommend equipment maintenance strategies that are engineered to maximize site wide asset performance while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate multiple technology condition monitoring based reporting and recommend corrective actions that improve life of a system and its ease of maintenance. They must also incorporate a high level of safety and be within MSHA standards.
• Monitor, analyze and recommend changes to ensure that maintenance is preventative, predictive and proactive.
• Espouse knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, motor circuit evaluation, oil analysis, ultrasonic, airborne and flaw detection.
• Report on asset health and maintenance program effectiveness to management.
• Write and maintain quality control procedures for rebuild or purchase of important equipment and or components.
• Perform failure and root cause analysis as requested by any department. Set up programs to ensure that information about field failures is timely, accurate, well organized, and used by those who can do something with it.
• Maintains and updates the equipment criticality lists with periodic reviews or assessments.
• Must be able to analyze data to advise all departments on maintenance practices that drive reliability including wear management, preventative maintenance, and failure limits. This information impacts millions of dollars in company assets.
• Participate in the budgeting cycle to effectively determine the allowable system failures down to the component level.
• Generate the annual budget for MEM Opex and Capital costs in accordance with the Life of Mine plan while working closely with Tech Services and the senior leadership team/corporate.
• Utilize the Xerus budget tool to create and track the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual MEM costs to ensure budget compliance and communicate such to senior leadership as required.
• Adjust planned component replacement schedules as required based on YTD costs and business needs
• Verify component and labor costs with suppliers in advance of the budget cycle.
• Manage and oversee the activities for mining development sites of Planning and Reliability departments, including Non-Destructive Testing team, Machine Health, Warranty Management, Drill and Shovel, Haul and Support, and Light Vehicle planning.
• Utilize knowledge of vibration analysis, thermal imaging, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, UE systems and flaw detection.
• Report on asset health and maintenance program effectiveness to management.
• Receive, review, and approve invoices for completed work.
• Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Reliable Engineering or equivalent required
• Three to five years of experience in the offered position or a position in a related occupation
• Must be competent in root failure analysis methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause.
• Utilize Continuous Improvement (CI) practices to improve the significant factors negatively impacting KPI trends. Sponsor and support CI initiatives and ensure CI conclusions are implemented and sustained.
• Able to write effective technical assessment reports.
• Must have strong maintenance background with high level of knowledge in both Mobile and Fixed Equipment and their relative maintenance strategies.
• General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling, crushing and maintenance operations.
• Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Strong knowledge JDE or similar CMMS system preferred.
• Training on reliability practices, procedures, or methodologies is required.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
• Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
• Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
• Requires valid driver's license.
