Workshop Manager - Sudbury - Canada

Do you have 10+ years' experience as an Engineer with heavy mining equipment?

Have you previously held a Workshop Manager role?

Do you have strong business acumen as well as technical skills?

Our client is a global engineering group specialising in mining and rock excavation, metal-cutting and materials technology, and they are looking for a Workshop Manager.

With an exciting and ambitious growth strategy in place our client is looking for a Workshop Manager to join their Division in Canada, to be based in Sudbury. This challenging role will be responsible for the management of the workshop operations in order to meet the requirements of the business and to ensure work is completed in compliance with company quality and safety standards.

In this Workshop Manager position you will also be responsible for:
  • Managing all aspects of the workshop operation to meet the defined targets.
  • Overseeing the full lifecycle of all workshop employees including recruiting, developing, elevating, and coaching your team.
  • Participating in the development of workshop targets and developing processes to meet them.
  • Ensuring customers are informed of any changes such as work order status or cost changes.
  • Controlling job and workshop costs - working to established budgets and commitments.
  • Providing excellent customer service and support in areas such as the preparation of quotes and technical publications.
  • Ensuring conformance to company quality standards.
  • Recommending selection of outside contractors.
  • Identifying and recommends any capital improvements.
  • Ensuring timely completion of committed jobs.
  • Participating in workshop and personnel scheduling as well as monitors and approves attendance and work hours.

Essentials
  • Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with heavy mining equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial experience, leading mixed ability teams.
