General Manager

A precious metals producer and explorer focused on growth throughout EMEA is looking to source a proven General Manager to manage of all exploration activities from regional mentoring programs to operational work right through managing all aspects of the mining lifecycle.

This role will operate on a FIFO basis to Africa and will be in pole position to succeed the outgoing Regional VP / Head of Operations when they depart their role.

If you know from past work with Jon Taylor at CSG, Jon would usually be quite forthcoming with the information about the client he is partnering with. On this occasion, the client CSG are working with have asked for a very confidential search. Therefore, initial conversations would not include the company name.

The ideal individual will require:

• Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability
• Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, management policies, strategies and systems
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and consultative skills with the ability to interact with Management, employees, and all stakeholders.
• Able to appreciate the big picture and apply strategic and analytic thinking to effectively implement this in practical terms
• Strong financial acumen including budgeting and forecasting
• UG & OP capabilities
• Foresight
• A proven track record in improving all mining processes
• Have full responsibility for the direction, management and development of the ongoing projects of the construction and mine development.
• Direct and manage the full operations of the mine
• Have communication skills that are superior and be equally at home on the mine and in the boardroom and competent at representing the mine to management, the financial community and other key stakeholders
• Have proven experience in the development and management of mine operations, including bringing new operations into full production
• Ensure safe mine operations and establish and maintain effective safety programs
• Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and associated permits.
