About the role

All progress begins with pioneers. At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Advisor Asset Productivity to lead a team of professional and technical experts in providing asset performance analytics for Pilbara mine operations, including fixed plant assets through to ports. You'll be developing and providing crucial analysis and insights, along with recommendations for productivity improvement and strategic plans. Your expertise in analytics will be applied to the evaluation of assets and system performance, and the identification of potential constraints.

Leveraging the knowledge of other teams, this could be your opportunity to lead a team of 4 direct reports. You'll get to regularly engage with the senior and executive leadership team, as a trusted advisor for productivity, system alignment and processes.

We are an open, connected global team that includes some of the industry's best and brightest minds. We offer competitive, performance-focused remuneration and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop and grow your career are broad and exciting.

What you'll bring
  • As a seasoned asset management professional, you will have a deep understanding of the metrics used to measure asset performance and how to interpret these across mining, processing and port operations,
  • Experience leading highly technical and diverse teams, creating environments of psychological safety and demonstrating approaches to maximise inclusion within a distributed office/home work environment,
  • Excellence in communication and managing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across operations, maintenance and commercial areas including senior leaders and front-line workers,
  • An educational background in engineering, data science and production systems analytics using contemporary applications and methodologies,
  • Practical exposure to analysing and improving maintenance cost management across a range of fixed and mobile asset classes,

The prospect of joining our team should genuinely excite you. Due to the level of complexity and fast pace, this role would be best suited to someone who has a technical / mining operations background. It would be terrific if you have production management experience, but it's not essential.
