We are looking for a"¯Chief Advisor CSP Strategy & Human Rights to join our Global Communities & Social Performance team to lead human rights activities and drive social performance improvement across the business. This is a great opportunity for a strategic and big picture thinker with global experience in social performance and human rights to make their mark in a newly created role.

Reporting to the Head of Communities & Social Performance you will lead the development of group-wide Community and Social Performance (CSP) and human rights strategy, approach and policy positions. You will be responsible for:
  • Developing and overseeing the human rights framework and leading the company's human rights activities
  • Monitoring emerging global sustainability trends and raising material issues with senior management and relevant internal stakeholders
  • Providing strategic and technical advice to senior leadership, Product Groups and Assets on CSP and human rights trends, risks and opportunities
  • Leading the integration of social considerations into the company's key business decision-making processes
  • Designing and overseeing implementation of risk and assurance processes to monitor human rights due diligence across the value chain
  • Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure and track Rio Tinto's social and human rights performance
  • Leading the company's CSP and human rights reporting and participation and managing the company's participation in benchmarking and responsible sourcing initiatives
  • Raising internal awareness, and leading the development of training materials on human rights for a range of stakeholders

What you'll bring
  • A tertiary qualification in Law, social or political science, international development or other relevant qualification
  • 15+ years' global experience in social performance and/or human rights
  • Strategic and big picture thinker
  • Team player and strong collaborator
  • Advanced communications, influencing and mediation skills
  • Values driven, high integrity
  • Sound judgement
