Job Summary

Under the general direction of the engineering superintendent, is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all surveying activities while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect the Company values.

Essential Functions

1. Knows all aspects of survey tasks.

2. Capable of training all survey levels including survey technician I, II, III, senior tech, and summer interns.

3. Proficient with math, including coordinate calculations, triangulations, resections, traverses, volumes, etc.

4. Understands and uses topographic data and volumes.

5. Capable of utilizing computer systems at an advanced level.

6. Capable of maintaining survey data in MMS (Dig lines, ore control, drill patterns).

7. Capable of setting up a Trimble GPS base station and making a site calibration to be used with a local coordinate system and a wireless data system to make real time kinematic surveys.

8. Capable of setting up and maintaining an Underground control network.

9. Create usable digital terrain models for stake out (ramps, inner-ramp highwall sloping, reclamation, etc.)

10. Capable of working with engineering staff to develop mining plans.

11. Ordering and maintaining up to date equipment and supplies for the department.

12. Engineering a variety of projects such as slope reclamation, ramps, blast patterns, leach pad planning, etc...

13. Capable of filling in for short-term mine planner as needed.

14. Responsible for all aspects of yearly aerial fly-over, including contracts, updating boundaries, setting panels, and assuring digital data is imported to the RMGC computer networks.

15. Oversee quality assurance for leach pad expansion projects.

16. Oversee leach pad survey crew, coordinate short term leach pad plan and designs between ore process and production.

17. Responsible for Leica robotic slope monitoring system, which monitors highwall movement in real time.

18. Helps develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above.

19. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.

20. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.

21. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.

22. Works without risk or harm to self and others.

23. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by state agency, or must be able to pass driver competency course and exam.

24. Punctuality and regular attendance required.

25. Performs other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

1. General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.

2. Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing work processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.

3. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

4. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.

5. Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills

6. Must be able to prioritize with limited planning resources and frequent deadlines.

7. Should have comprehensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and concepts of open pit mining engineering.

8. Should have comprehensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and concepts of Underground mining engineering.

9. Must be able to operate and train all surveyors on computer programs associated with Trimble 4700 GPS receivers, Trimble R8 GNSS GPS receivers, Trimble TSC2 and TSCe data collectors, Trimble S6 servo driven total stations, Sokkia set 3 total station, Spectra Precision dual and single grade laser levels, Dini electronic level, and Zeiss automatic level.

10. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Auto-Cad 2009, Eagle Point 2009, Trimble Geomatics 1.63 computer software, Trimble quick plan satellite management software, and Leica GeoMoss.

11. Must produce results that can be utilized in mine planning and production support.

12. Must be able to follow up on work and verify that work was completed satisfactorily.

13. Must accept work and ever-changing technology upgrades in a gracious manner.

14. Mine engineering degree or surveying degree preferred, may substitute experience.

15. Ten years previous surveying experience in an open-pit mine.

16. Five years of previous supervisor experience

17. Must have excellent leadership qualities.

18. Must have excellent computer, communication and training skills.

19. Well-developed interpersonal skills in seeking information from a variety of personnel and departments.

20. Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis.

21. Requires valid driver's license.
