Job Summary: This position demands a safety minded individual with strong drive and enthusiasm to advance our organization forward by leading, mentoring, and developing a small team of support, office and procurement employees. The successful candidate will be responsible to produce monthly and periodic financial reports, maintenance and compliance of the accounting system and records. Establishes and maintains a set of internal controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with the applicable accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Specific Duties

•Performs all functions of the company's financial systems at the mine location

•Manages month/quarter and year-end closing

•Provides monthly analysis of operating costs

•Ensures all internal controls are maintained and in compliance

•Assists in the development of the budgets and forecasts

•Assists with and support department heads in monitoring and controlling individual departmental costs

•Oversight of purchasing, warehouse, and office staff

•Develops, implements and maintains best practices within the accounting group and departments.

•Promotes a safe work environment for yourself, other employees and contractors.

•Performs equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained

•Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

•Expert knowledge of IFRS, cost accounting and best practice internal controls

•Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and reporting requirements

•Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

•Demonstrated organization skills, adaptable and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Education and /or Experience:

•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is required.

•Recognized accounting designation and/or master's degree is preferred

•Minimum of seven (7) years' supervisory experience as a Financial Controller and/or Senior Accountant managing a small team in a production or heavy industry.

Language Skills:

•Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and be able to work with difficult people under high stress situations.

•Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relationships and act courteous and respectful of others.

Other Skills and Abilities:

•Ability to work within a team environment.

•Knowledge and use of Microsoft NAV, SharePoint and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

•Current MSHA Part 48 certificate is preferred.

•Valid US Driver's License

Criteria/Conditions:

•While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stair and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.

•May be required to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.

•The work is in an outdoor mine setting which requires hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, protective clothing, gloves, and other protective equipment as required by law.

•Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver's license.

•Golden Vertex is a drug/alcohol free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per all applicable laws.

•This work is in a mine and plant setting which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
