Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mobile Fleet Maintenance team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) in Papua New Guinea.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Technician - Auto Electrical for FIFO positions on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be required to perform automotive electrical work on mobile equipment's in the Mobile Fleet Maintenance Department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all equipment's are correctly maintained to meet necessary production and reliability targets and satisfy customer requirements

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Carry out electrical breakdown and preventative maintenance repairs on a wide range of mobile equipment in accordance with NML's safe working policies and procedures and in compliance with manufacturers specifications.
  • Ensures documentation and service records for electrical equipment are complete and kept up to date.


Essential criteria
  • Minimum level of Grade 10 essential
  • Trade Certificate in Auto Electrical essential.
  • Communications & Technology, additional and advantageous.
  • 3- 5 years relevant work experience essential in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment; either through experience in a similar operation or through progression as an NML apprentice.
  • PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 essential or proven ability to obtain by time of employment.
  • Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building


Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience in auto electrical maintenance on mobile fleet, including O&K RH200 Shovels, Hitachi Excavators, Caterpillar Truck, Dozers, Loaders, Graders and Excavators, Sandvik and Epiroc Drills. (Highly desirable).
  • Relevant experience in automotive air conditioning systems (Essential).
  • Working at heights tickets (desirable).
  • Computer proficiency in SAP & MS Office suite (desirable)

The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
