Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Asset Management, Reliability Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) in Papua New Guinea.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Technician - Condition Monitoring for a FIFO position on Lihir Island, PNG. Reporting to the Supervisor - Condition Monitoring, you will be required to carry out trade-level condition monitoring tasks throughout the processing plant. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all equipment's are correctly maintained to meet necessary production and reliability targets and satisfy original manufacturer's requirements.

The role will have responsibility to:
  • Carry out condition monitoring work in accordance with NML's safe working policies and procedures and in compliance with manufacturers specifications.
  • Assist with building / modifying condition monitoring databases
  • Carry out routine and on-demand condition monitoring tasks like vibration data collection, thermal imaging, non-destructive testing
  • Upload and download data collection point routes
  • Carry out basic data analysis with draft recommendations
  • Use and care for condition monitoring and NDT facilities and
  • Carryout precision maintenance tasks in support of trade teams - alignment, balancing, fastener tensioning etc


Essential criteria
  • Minimum level of Grade 10 essential
  • Electrical or mechanical Trade Certification highly regarded
  • 3 - 5 years relevant engineering and/or trade work experience essential in fixed plant maintenance in heavy industry, preferably minerals processing.
  • PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6 essential or proven ability to obtain by time of employment.
  • Good verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
  • High attention to detail with good time management skills.
  • Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building


Desirable criteria
  • Mechanical or electrical engineering degree highly sought for
  • Certified training in vibration analysis, NDT techniques and/or thermography
  • Proficient in English with fluent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Computer proficiency in SAP & MS Office suite desirable.


The Requirements
  • Must be open to FIFO in PNG.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
