POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Superintendent you will play a significant part in the success for Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple laborers/craft workers. You with be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with mine plans and quality specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the plans. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with the client, managers, technical/quality field personnel, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

DISTRICT OVERVIEW

LOCATION

This position is in Soda Springs, ID.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for direct supervision of an assigned multi-skilled crew of craft workers.
  • Mentor and help to grow upcoming craft supervisors/leadmen
  • Attend regular and supplementary meeting with client for planning and problem resolution
  • Make daily job assignments, authorizes time off and overtime requests, completes performance assessments, initiates disciplinary action and performance improvements plans.
  • Coordination of daily equipment, quality, safety, engineering/environmental and care-of-water needs
  • Monitor crew productivity and efficiencies
  • Oversee and document necessary crafts training needs
  • Complete and maintain required in-shift documentations and turnover reports
  • Review, approve and negotiate change orders
  • Maintain daily diary for record keeping purposes
  • Recommend, where appropriate, organizational, policy and procedural changes
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to highest craft pay levels.
  • Support and follow through with all continuous improvement efforts on site


EXPECTATIONS
  • Follow and support all company policies and make safety a priority
  • Maintain good client and staff relations on site
  • Daily exercise of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. The duties must also include a base knowledge of employment law.
  • Must uphold the standards of employment law in regard to sexual harassment, discrimination, EEO, FMLA, ADA, and all other matter dealing with fair and equal treatment of employees.
  • Through the course of daily dealings with employees, will be exposed to information about employees that may be protected information that must remain confidential. Discretion must be exercised when you are the recipient of such information.
  • Will make daily decisions that affect the business contracts, shipping regulations, contract specifications, etc.
  • Participate in weekly mine plan meetings for the purpose of determining short range and long-range plans for the site.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years' relevant experience with 3+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit's policies, procedures and software programs.
  • Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
