JOB POSTING – SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR

Donlin Gold is one of the world's largest undeveloped gold deposits, owned and operated by Donlin Gold LLC, which is owned equally by NovaGold Resources and Barrick Gold U.S. Donlin Gold is expected to be one of just a handful of gold mines worldwide that produces more than one million ounces of gold annually, making it a true world-class asset.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

The Senior Environmental Coordinator will work closely with the Environmental, Permitting, and Engineering teams to develop, review, and oversee water, wastewater, solid waste, and air quality management programs to support mining exploration, camp operations, and permitting of the Donlin Gold Mine. Responsibilities and Duties include (others to be added depending on experience and skill set of candidate):

 

  • Coordinate regulatory compliance for field operations at the Donlin Gold camp.
  • Manage Field Compliance Technicians at the Donlin Gold Camp.
  • Coordinate and manage specialty subcontractors or project team members for specific technical studies.
  • Develop, manage, maintain, regulatory compliance systems and files.
  • Prepare permit applications and work with regulatory agencies to obtain permit approval.
  • Work with the technical team to incorporate engineering and technical data into permit applications, and to complete data reports to support permitting.
  • Prepare technical documents (e.g. plans, reports, standard operating procedures) as required to support engineering, environmental, permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in community engagement efforts to explain engineering and environmental concepts to stakeholders.
  • This is an Anchorage based position, however traveling to the Donlin Gold camp will be required on an as needed basis.
  • Travel in small aircraft (i.e. fixed-wing and helicopter)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering, engineering, geology, air or environmental sciences, or related field.  
  • 2-5 years of experience with permitting and planning, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical aspects of water quality, waste management, and reclamation requirements.
  • Knowledge of Office 365, ArcGIS, and other engineering design tools are plus.
