New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver.The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: 7 on, 7 off, dayshift only

Position Reports To: Operations Planner

Position Overview
The Quality Control & Shift Planner monitors, documents, communicates, and supports work activities throughout the mine. Through effective communication and forward thinking, this role will be instrumental in linking Mine Engineering and Mine Operations groups by constantly focusing on critical path activities for mining activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing daily documented inspections of critical work areas for compliance, progress, best practices, and opportunities;
  • Provide support to the operations planner and technical services team through a detailed daily understanding of weekly priorities and milestones;
  • Verify work quality, identify hazards and bottlenecks, and support equipment and materials logistics;
  • Support Supervisors and the Operations Planner in the development and execution of the weekly plan;
  • Identify, communicate, and complete low barrier/high value improvement initiatives;
  • Scope and source resources to facilitate streamlined execution of priorities;
  • Coordinate operations feedback to the Operations and Engineering teams to be included in planning.
  • Manage contractor LME's and KPI's


Qualifications

  • Engineering diploma and a minimum of 1-year of mining experience;
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and SAP ;
  • Situational adaptability, self-starter, and a strong communication skills;
  • Considerable mechanical aptitude.

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
  • Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements


Compensation

A competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
