Reflecting that commitment, we are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Advisor to join the Taxation team based in Melbourne.

Based on St Kilda Road, our Melbourne Head Office is easily accessible by public transport or car, with discounted parking available, and located across the road from the Albert Park Lake. Who we're looking for

Reporting to our Principal Tax - Australia & US, the Senior Tax Adviser manages tax compliance and timely tax advice for a selection of companies, functions and assets of the Newcrest Mining Limited Group.

This is a part time role within the Taxation team that collaborates to:
  • Ensure tax compliance is completed accurately and on a timely basis
  • Provide accurate and timely tax advice/input to the business and other corporate groups including M&A and business development
  • Undertake planning and execution of tax projects
  • Assist with managing tax audits and disputes for the group
  • Assist with tax transparency initiatives

Our ideal candidate will have a degree qualification in Accounting or Finance and a professional qualification,either post completion or currently pursuing. You'll have experience in a tax role, either operational or consulting, with exposure to diverse organisations. A Mining or Resources tax or Big 4 accounting firm background would be advantageous.

You will also have:
  • The ability to interpret and apply Australian tax legislation in practice and review overseas tax legislation, exercise judgement on technical matters and where a matter is identified as requiring external tax input, liaising with external tax advisors
  • Highly tuned problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting requirements
  • Strong commercial sense
  • Good knowledge of Excel
  • The ability to work on CCH Integrator and data analytics tools
  • Experience with SAP will be advantageous but is not essential
