DESCRIPTION

Through the use of effective scheduling of equipment and mine engineering practices provide support to the day to day mining operations. Plan and monitor mining sequence and insure all mining activities are planned to maintain a safe work environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Produce Daily, and Weekly mine plan

•Review final and interim mine designs for operational effectiveness and safety

•Schedule the mining of ore and waste generally in accordance with the Monthly forecast, but seek opportunities to reduce cost and improve efficiency by finessing haul profiles and dump locations.

•Monitor the execution of the short term plan in the field to ensure critical path targets are achieved.

•Monitor as built progress against design and report variances to the mine operations group

•Allocate daily survey tasks and insure work is organized for maximum efficiency.

•Ensures mining is planned and implemented to maximize the recovery of ore and minimize mining dilution.

•Develop a sense of continuous improvement, seek to streamline production planning process and minimize the gap between plan and execution.

•Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures.

•Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications

•Tertiary qualification(s) in Engineering; and Eligibility for membership of a professional body desirable.

Pre-requisites

1-5 years of production experience in a hardrock open pit mining environment Excellent problem solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions. Excellent planning and organizational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals. The ability to make a decision from a range of competing options where the outcomes are not entirely predictable. Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operate and contribute.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday. Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity. Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required. The company promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing.
