Salt Lake City or Denver is the preferred office alignment for this position, but other locations will be considered.

  • Facilitation experience with PFMAs/failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs)
  • Experience performing probability and consequence analysis for qualitative risk assessments
  • Demonstrated understanding of the consulting profession, including flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needs

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet creation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in civil or geotechnical engineering with additional coursework or research related to geotechnical or dam engineering
  • 20+ years of analysis and design experience, including inspecting concrete and earthen dams and/or levees, especially related to dam repair and rehabilitation
  • Prior approval as an independent consultant to complete FERC Part 12 dam safety inspections
  • Interest in and ability to perform project execution and management, business development, and staff mentoring
  • Facilitation experience with qualitative and quantitative dam risk assessments
  • Computer skills and work experience in statistical analysis software or risk analysis software (@Risk or similar)

NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions characteristic of industrial facilities. Assignments may involve work on waste disposal sites and sites requiring cleanup of hazardous materials. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
