About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor in the RTIO Business Analysis Team, whose function is to offer insightful, proactive, timely and high quality analysis and commercial advice in order to reduce the uncertainty and risks associated with the major decisions which are required to be made to create and protect value for Rio Tinto Iron Ore assets. This role reports to the Manager Business Analysis.

Reporting to the Manager Business Analysis, you will be:
  • Assessing, valuing and influencing major investment proposals, including preparing proposals for the Investment Committee and Board.
  • Providing commercial and analytical support to operations leadership teams.
  • Engaging with the business to assess the financial viability of projects and programmes through appropriate evaluation using financial modelling to identify key drivers for optimising project value.
  • Reviewing and providing recommendations on capital expenditure applications, contracts, major operating cost decisions and post investment reviews.
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement.

What you'll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or similar
  • Post-graduate Finance, MBA or similar qualification highly desirable for the diversity of role.
  • 5 years+ business analysis and commercial experience with large natural resource companies
  • Experience in managing complex valuation models and provide business insights
  • Be a strategic thinker, have a creative outlook combined with practicality and strategic focus.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including an ability to build relationships and excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and communicate results
  • Sound values with high business integrity

It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • An MBA or other post-graduate degree
  • Resource sector experience
