Principal Mining Engieneer

An international operator focused on operating in two continents is currently looking for a Principal Mining Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the engineering system for multiple sites. The Principal Mining Engineer will ensure optimal technical support and innovation is provided to operations, thus enabling achievement of long- and short-term business objectives.

This role follows a refresh of a few aspects of the mine which allows this person to come in and really take hold of the operation. This Principal Mining Engineer / Mine Engineering Manager opportunity will be residential only, NO FIFO will be offered.

Whilst working in a collaborative, diverse team, you will...

• Lead the program to further reduce underground major hazard risks at our assets and studies
• Work with asset and studies teams to identify risks and actively engineer out hazards
• Ensure the right specialist technical capabilities are developed 
• Work with Group Technical to enhance professional development programs
• Deliver efficient short to long term mine/plant production planning services 
• Expand the productivity and benchmarking program across the group in-country, and lever to accelerate leading practice replication outcomes
• Improve technical systems and processes within the country, including data quality and utilization
• Work across asset and functional team boundaries to deliver technical optimization opportunities
• Work with your team to ensure prioritization and delivery of highest value/risk business opportunities
• Support the technical work program for the underground projects
• Support the regional team to deliver the technical program for the UG project, including mine design and production readiness
• Work with assets/functions to utilise Strategic Production Planning to increase long term value

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering with extensive technical experience in underground mining;
• Experience in Mine Operations and/or Projects, Mine Technical Services and/or Studies
• Competency in Risk Management and Risk Assessment;
• Demonstrated ability to drive, implement and manage continuous improvement processes;
• Demonstrated ability to conduct strategic options analysis of projects
• Demonstrated communication skills, including an ability to build relationships with both internal stakeholders and external consultancies
• You will be a highly motivated individual with a strong technical aptitude in the field, ideally with significant exposure to mining operations and the metals & mining industry in general
• You must possess a high understanding of project management, project development, and engineering work methodology.
• Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and an ability to problem-solve
• Demonstrated commercial insight, strategic thinking, and business acumen;
• Strong focus on Safety
