Newcrest is one of the world's largest gold mining companies. As a global business, we aim to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, valued and supported to bring their whole unique self to work.

We recognise that our different backgrounds and perspectives help us find better ways to: solve problems; attract and retain the best people; explore, develop and produce more gold safely and profitably; and help make Newcrest a better place to work.

At Newcrest, we hold core values that focus on caring about people, working together and achieving a high-performance culture through innovation and problem solving.

Reflecting that commitment, we are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Advisor to join the Taxation team based in Melbourne on a part-time basis (3 days a week).

Operations near and far

We're proud to be the largest gold producer listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. From our Head Office in Melbourne, we work closely with our operations both local and global to safely operate and grow.

Based on St Kilda Road, our Melbourne Head Office is easily accessible by public transport or car, with discounted parking available, and located across the road from the Albert Park Lake. Experience a lunch break around the lake or have access to our on-site gym facilities, with local eateries only a short walk from the office.

Who we're looking for

Reporting to our Principal Tax - Australia & US, the Senior Tax Adviser manages tax compliance and timely tax advice for a selection of companies, functions and assets of the Newcrest Mining Limited Group.

This is a part time role for 3 days which provides an amazing opportunity for work-life balance. The successful applicant will share the role of Senior Tax Advisor with another member of the Tax team to:
  • Ensure tax compliance is completed accurately and on a timely basis
  • Provide accurate and timely tax advice/input to the business and other corporate groups
  • Undertake planning and execution of tax projects
  • Assist with managing tax audits and disputes for the group
  • Assist with tax transparency initiatives

Our ideal candidate will have a degree qualification in Accounting or Finance and a professional qualification, either post completion or currently pursuing. You'll have experience in a tax role, either operational or consulting, with exposure to diverse organisations. A Mining or Resources tax or Big 4 accounting firm background would be advantageous.

You will also have:
  • The ability to interpret and apply tax legislation, exercise judgement on technical matters and liaise with external tax advisors
  • Highly tuned problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting requirements
  • Strong commercial sense
  • Good knowledge of Excel
  • The ability to work on CCH Integrator and data analytics tools
  • Experience with SAP will be advantageous but is not essential

If you are seeking a new career challenge, where you can transfer your existing skills, into a positive and empowering team environment whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance, we'd love to hear from you!

Our commitment to you

Newcrest's commitment to diversity and inclusion respects both the rights of every individual to work to their highest potential, free of discrimination, as well as the cultures, religions and governing codes applicable to each country in which we operate.

If you share our values and feel that you could make a meaningful difference in this role, please apply online before the advertised application closing date.

At this stage, we are not accepting any external agency CVs for the opportunity
